Longhorn Organics has been designing, building and installing LSS systems for zoos and aquariums across the US since 2009. Our portfolio of zoo and aquarium projects includes St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station, Fort Worth Zoo, and SeaWorld San Antonio.
Longhorn Organics has the ability to create custom water features that transform your space. Commercial water features and outdoor fountain projects such as the MFAH Glassell School of Art and Rothko Chapel showcase this complex work.
Longhorn Organics' team of builders, biologists and certified LSS operators detecting and minimizing potential CapEx and OPEX issues that could arise during the project life cycle. We work collaboratively with the owner, general contractor and designers to create innovative LSS designs.
“Longhorn Organics is one of our preferred LSS installers because the team truly focuses on animal health throughout the construction process.”

Almost tripling its current size, this exhibit will serve as the home to the Asian elephant herd, which includes a three-generation family. The addition of multiple, expanded yards and varied habitats will help to enhance the Zoo’s successful breeding program. These improvements will allow the herd numerous enrichment opportunities with multiple pools and yards.
The expanded campus will include a new home for the zoo's river otters and an outdoor wetland environment for turtles and tortoises that also has interactive exhibits for kids to enjoy, as well as a greenhouse that will let guests watch herpetologists work.
Longhorn Organics remodeled the historic Union Station into a world class public aquarium with 17 Life Support Systems. St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station features Changing Rivers, Shark Canyon and The Deep exhibits. This includes a 250,000 gallon shark habitat,
13,000 animals, 357 species and
At Turtle Reef, guests can look into a 126,000 gallon sea turtle habitat with floor-to-ceiling underwater viewing. The habitat also features a unique saltwater wetland providing a natural bio-filtration process, the only one of its kind on a live animal habitat in a zoological setting in the United States.
The African Savanna is the first stage of A Wilder Vision. Sitting on 10 acres of existing Zoo land, the Savanna allows guests to see giraffes, springbok, ostriches and more in one exhibit. This habitat is surrounded by shaded walkways and an aviary with a variety of bird species for Zoo visitors to discover. A hippo exhibit includes spectacular above-water and underwater viewing.
Transformed the second story of SEA Life Grapevine into an Amazon Rainforest gallery. Exhibits include Freshwater river, Caiman Mayan Temple, Python Ruins, Piranha Tunnel, and Cold Water touch pools. In addition to these exhibits, Rainforest Adventure houses its own rain and mist feature giving guests the full rainforest experience.
“We love the work that Longhorn has done on our projects. With nearly 10 projects in the past 24 months, Longhorn Organics is one of our

“One of Longhorn’s biggest strengths is the ability to commission a system. They would absolutely be the team I would call.”
Contracted to design the Life Support System for the river trout exhibits and trout pond. These will educate and entertain families and groups looking for a nature getaway. Visitors will be able to encounter native trout that they can see in a river setting exhibit and fish for in the outdoor pond.
Contracted to redesign existing areas to create a more efficient filtration system to use the smallest footprint possible. This included flow, pumps, filtration and controls packages. The project features cascading waterfalls and multiple pools flowing through the exhibits and will house several skilled hunters of the animal kingdom.
Longhorn Organics contracted with the general contractor during design phase and was tasked with finding value engineering opportunities while assisting LSS design. The Galapagos exhibit features sea lions, sharks and giant tortoises.
Longhorn Organics contracted during design phase and was tasked with assisting in LSS constructability reviews and budget exercises. Scope includes continuous budget reviews, prefab coordination and execution with other subcontractors on the project to provide the most accurate and timely delivery.
Longhorn Organics was contracted to design and build a customized solution to isolate the shark filtration from the shared LSS at the facility. This would eliminate the potential for cross contamination and increase the long-term health of the sharks.
Longhorn Organics was contracted to design-build high quality LSS to support the rescue, rehabilitation and release efforts that SeaLife Grapevine is known for. This included long-term living facilities for non-releasable turtles as well as an on-site turtle hospital to support rehabilitation and release of healthy turtles back into the wild.
